The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 1 (2022) Review

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 1 (2022) Review

I am a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings but I did not want to watch this show and had little interest. But with Season 2 just starting its release schedule, I thought it was time for me to watch this show and I have now watched the first season of Rings of Power and here is my review for it. The premise of the show is set thousands of years before Lord of the Rings and sees the different species try to survive against the dark forces of Middle Earth.

Main Character

Morfydd Clark plays a young Galadriel and I did find it unfortunate that I really didn't care about this character. She is just really dull and the show doesn't do a good enough job of making you care about her or her character. Clark, does try and that deserves a bit of credit but with her being the clear protagonist of this show, she falls really flat.

Supporting Cast

The cast is pretty large, and it is mixed for sure. I think a lot of the performers were hampered by shoddy writing and poor storytelling which gave them little to work with.

Robert Aramayo plays young Elrond and I really liked him. He doesn't really feel like Elrond but I can't deny that he is entertaining to watch and there is plenty of depth made to his character and I found the scenes involving him and Durin played by Owain Arthur to be the most entertaining of the show.

Charlie Vickers plays Halbrand and he is alright, he actually has some charm and charisma to him which helps him rise above some shoddy writing for the character. I thought he did a good job and made me intrigued by his character.

But the rest of the cast really suffers, Arondir played by Ismael Cruz Cordova is really boring. He is great in the action sequences, but he is so monotone and soft spoken that it was hard to care about him and he just falls really flat, especially with how much time we spend with him.

The story involving Daniel Weyman as The Stranger and Markella Kavenagh as Nori is really dull and boring. It tries to be mysterious but it never really goes anywhere, it took till the finale to try and make them interesting but there characters were a sore part of the show.

Story

The story really misses the mark. I saw it described as a fan fiction of JRR Tolkein's work and I am afraid that it does really feel like that. The show tries to force intrigue and interest by hiding a lot of information about the characters but that made it really hard to get invested. Then the final episode has a few reveals that feel rushed and not earned for the show and I hope the story improves in the future.

Script

The show is unfortunately not written well. All the dialogue feels really forced and those bits that are good are due to the actors rising above this shoddy writing. Not much makes sense and making so many storylines that involve mystery makes things feeling frustratingly not complete.

Style

Easily the best part of the show is the style. The show looks beautiful, you can tell it has a huge budget and for the most part it is really effective. Middle Earth looks great and I am glad that this show has the essence of the universe with both its looks and also its fantastic music choices. The action scenes are also great and have a bit more brutality which I definitely enjoyed.

Overall

Overall, Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power Season 1 is a bad show and falls really flat of its licence. It is definitely an example of style of substance and I hope the second season is a huge improvement on this as the franchise deserves way better.

Rules of The Game Series (2022) Review

Rules of The Game Series (2022) Review

BBC recently released this show onto the IPLAYER and I have now watched the 4 episodes of the show and here is my review for Rules of the Game. The premise of the show sees a new head of HR join a company and she starts to examine the toxic working relationship of the company and take action against the culture of the senior staff.

Main Character

Maxine Peake plays the lead character Sam and the best thing I can say about her is that she is clearly acting well. It is a strong performance and you can tell she is really giving her all in the role but the problem is that she is so unlikeable in the role. You can have flawed characters but when there is pretty much nothing to make you care then it is a pretty difficult sell to an audience.

Supporting Characters

Rakhee Thakrar plays the new head of HR and she is okay, again she acts the role well and you are obviously on her side because of the clear issues at the work place. But she is just a bit bland and boring, the show loses the ball with her in the middle of the show and it made it a struggle to full get on board. Callie Cooke as Tess Jones is probably the best character in the show, she is really affected by the issues at the workplace and for me she was the one person that I felt was genuine with her character and I kind of wish she was given more screen time as she was my favourite character. Ben Batt and Kieran Bew play the brothers who are the executives and they are okay but there is no denying they are cliché's and it is laughable how over the top they are. The rest of the cast do their best but there just isn't much here and I would argue the show is a bit cluttered and could have done with some having a smaller role.

Story

The story is where the show really falls down, it is just absolutely absurd. It starts off trying to set the show in pretty realistic conditions but as it goes on you realise just how crazy it starts to get and how it is just laughable. It also doesn't help how predictable it is, I worked out what was going on by the end of the first episode and that was a big issue for me. The ending is also too abrupt, it leaves you wondering what happened to the majority of the characters and that is a big let down.

Script

The script does have some okay dramatic dialogue that makes the interactions feel more intense. But it also feels quite superficial, it is also a pretty dour show and that makes it hard to stick with, especially with its slower pace. Now I don't mind if a show wants to push a message, this show is clearly pushing the feminism message and that is fine, but why do shows like this have to make every male character a scumbag, it just takes me out of it and feels like the message is outweighing the actual show.

Style

The show is filmed well enough but it is so boring. The show trundles its way through the episodes and it can't keep the suspense and drama up enough for me. It is a shame that this is the case as the set design is pretty good but I fear people won't even bother watching till the end.

Overall

Overall, Rules of the Game is a poor show that misses the mark. It clearly has a message but it executes it badly and I would say give this one a miss.

Masters of the Universe: Revelations Season 1 (2021) Review

Masters of the Universe: Revelations Season 1 (2021) Review

After plenty of build up the much hyped new Netflix made Masters of the Universe show Revelations has come out and I watched the whole thing today and here is my review for it. The premise of the show sees He-Man and his compatriots go up against Skeletor and his forces.

Main Character

Chris Wood voices He-Man and he does a decent job in the role, the issue is that this show is a lie and barely has him in it. For a show that is literally marketed around his character and he is the most famous one, to barely have him in this show is ridiculous and allows us no time to grow to care about the character and his motivations. Instead the lead character is Teela played by Sarah Michelle Gellar and she is fine, if she was a support character but the show tries to force her down your throat and you are wondering where the hell He-Man is and why we are being forced to watch this characters journey and I just couldn't get past this.

Supporting Characters

There are some decent voice performances here, for me Leana Headey as Evil-Lyn was a real highlight and delivers a menacing and interesting character that has depth and I wish that we could have seen more of the story from her perspective. Also Mark Hamill voices Skeletor and he is clearly having a blast, he seems to be channelling his former voice work as The Joker and it is wonderful to hear. But again he is barely in this show and it feels like he never gets the real time to shine here. This show has a massive cast and for me at least not too many more of them shone for me, I am a casual fan of this world, knowing the basics but the show does a pretty lousy job of explaining all of the characters and some come across as really strange and like you should automatically know who they are because you are a die hard fan.

Story

The story is where the show really messes up, the first episode is fine and fun enough but then something happens and the show really focuses on the wrong things for this show. If they wanted to make a He-Man spinoff and not really include him then thats fine but don't lie and try to convince the fandom that we were getting a true He-Man show. The ending is fine, but the show felt like such a slog to get there and I just didn't get engaged enough with the story or characters.

Script

The script is okay with some decent dramatic moments and bits of humour but there isn't enough. The show feels conflicted whether to stay a bit more family friendly or more adult and it never chooses one or the other and I felt like that hurt the vibe of the show.

Style

Overall, the animation and action is decent enough, I mean it doesn't look exactly revolutionary for 2021 but it is serviceable and does get the vibe of what I would expect from a Masters of the Universe show. But despite the show not even clocking in 3 hours I was bored at times and felt a bit loss with where things were going, moving at a pace that really didn't do a good job of establishing the world and characters.

Overall

Overall, Masters of the Universe: Revelations is a poor show that does a disservice to its material. It is a slap in the face to He-Man fans and isn't good enough for new fans of the franchise either and I think it should be skipped despite its short run time.

Fate: The Winx Saga Season 1 (2021) Review

Fate: The Winx Saga Season 1 (2021) Review

Netflix have put some big marketing behind this show so I decided to sit down and watch the 6 episode season of Fate: The Winx Saga and here is my review for it. The premise of the season sees a girl have to adapt to a new school in a new world where she has to come to grips with her magic powers and abilities.

Main Character

Abigail Cowen plays Bloom our main character here and she is merely functional in the role. Bloom is a decent character with a pretty interesting backstory that makes her more interesting then anything else in the show. The issue is the writing for her character isn't particularly well written and isn't actually that likeable which is a nail in the coffin for a lead character. I just didn't care about Bloom that much and if it wasn't for the decent backstory the show gives her I am not sure if I would care at all and Cowen doesn't do much to raise those levels.

Supporting Characters

I'm just gonna get to it, none of the supporting characters do anything for me and I thought they were all terrible. She has a group of friends that are every generic person in a friendship group for a young adult show, the annoying big girl, the attractive popular girl, the emo outcast and the hardworking do gooder. These girls aren't interesting and actually annoyed me quite a bit and the show does nothing to help them as they are given really poor material to work with and hopefully if this show does go on, the ones that stick around are given better things to do. Then we move onto the love interest, Danny Griffin plays Skye and this guy is as generic as you can imagine, he has no personality and no character and he is just there as a tool for the drama and the conflict between characters and that is incredibly clear. The teachers are probably the best, but they are mostly ignored and left to do very little to focus on the younger cast.

Story

The story only gets a bit of a positive response because of some good worldbuilding and backstory to the main character. The show has an interesting setting and world with magic and the show really nailed its ending, if this show does get a second season I think the show did a really good job in setting up a much better second season. But this show suffers from drawing itself too much into its teenage demographic, the romance storylines are all paper thin and take up way too much time away from the more interesting stuff and either it could have been written better or just taken out for this season.

Script

The script is really bad with some cringeworthy dialogue that encapsulates the weaknesses of this show. It makes you wonder if the actors could have been better if they were given a script that was actually well written and made their characters any sort of interesting.

Style

The style is pretty decent actually, the magic powers all look pretty impressive and when on display are pretty cool to see. The show also has a nice flow to it due to it having only 6 episodes meaning it never dragged too much. But my main complaint is that those powers weren't shown off more, the action scenes are poorly filmed and not used effectively meaning it is a bit of a waste having powers that look nice when they aren't used very well.

Overall

Overall, I thought this was a poor show. It will probably have fans of shows like this but I just wasn't one of them, I do think this show has potential and a second season could be better, but in its current state I would avoid.

Riviera Season 2 (2019) Review

Riviera Season 2 (2019) Review

So in prep for watching the third season of the show I have now watched the second season of Riviera and here is my review for it. The premise of the season sees after the events on the season 1 finale Georgina keeps hiding lies to keep her relationship with her family alive.

Main Character

I thought Julia Stiles was really good as Georgina Clios in the first season  but I think her character is written weaker this season though Stiles tries her best. Stiles is a strong actress and she is still a good lead character it is just Georgina isn't very interesting and it feels like the show wasn't sure how to develop her, I feel like this is more of an issue with the show then Sties herself and I just wish the show had done more to make her interesting.

Supporting Characters

You know it isn't a great thing when Will Arnett is the best part of your show, he is really great here. He is a fun addition to the cast but he actually gives a strong and likeable performance and as I said he is easily the best character on this show. Lena Olin is back as Irina and I thought she was pretty good too, she shares plenty of scenes with Arnett and they are pretty fun to watch together on screen. But all the other characters are poorly written, All the new characters are dull and uninteresting and the returning characters such as Christos and Adriana are given nothing interesting to do and makes them an uninteresting and unimportant part of the show.

Story

The story is really uninteresting, it feels like they had plans for the first season and then got picked up for a second season and they had no idea what to do. The characters are given very little to do and it clearly shows and this season has one of the worst plot twists in a show ever and it makes no sense and really hurts the overall show. There are whole parts of the show that end without mention and as I said it was like the writers run out of ideas and what to do plot wise.

Script

The script is probably the worst part of the show, as I mentioned in the plot, the show is so unfocused and it is like they had no idea what to do for this season. The dialogue does nothing to help things either, with the characters being uninteresting and the writing for the show being so poor.

Style

The style for the show still looks pretty good, the Riviera looks beautiful and the show knows it and it is at least nice to look at. But the pacing of the show is terrible, I mean maybe this show could have been 6 episodes but it drags itself to 10 and it took me ages to force myself through all the episodes which says a lot.

Overall

Overall, this is such a weak second season. I liked the first season of the show but you can just see that it never required a second season and that this show should have always been a one season show.

Brave New World Season 1 (2020) Review

Brave New World Season 1 (2020) Review

This show recently hit The UK and I have now got around to watching the 9 episode first season and here is my review for it. The premise of the show sees in a new utopia a man from another society arrives and causes chaos in the society.

Main Character

Alden Ehrenreich who played young Han Solo plays the lead here and he really tries. You can tell there is a really good charismatic young actor in here and he has real moments of quality here that makes him a fun watch. The issue is just the writing for the character, it is something I will go into more later in the review but none of the characters are written particularly well and the same happens here. His character is just really hypocritical, I won't go into too much detail about why but it just isn't a character to really care about.

Supporting Characters

Jessica Brown Findlay and Harry Lloyd play the main supporting characters and they do decent jobs in their role. Their acting rises them above their characters and they give strong performances to at least provide some intrigue and interest to this show. The rest of the cast didn't do anything for me, Nisa Sosanya plays a strange character that isn't give much depth or explanation, she just turns up for like a scene or two in each episode with not much explanation and not really any reason to care. Hannah John Kamen is a fantastic actress but I wasn't a fan of her character here, I get her role it just isn't one I would usually associate with her. She is silly and over the top and again it is hard to take her seriously as a character.

Story

The story if I am honest is an absolute mess, it is part convoluted and part generic and it astounds me. There are no likeable characters and nothing to attach yourself to, even though it hides behind all this mumbo jumbo it is a simple society class story and you have seen it millions of times before, and it goes pretty much how you would expect and don't get me started on the underdeveloped romance and love triangle that takes place. Also the majority of the characters are just stupid and act and do things that make no sense and make you wonder just when this show takes place.

Script

The script is also really weak, as I said it is difficult for a show to literally have nobody to care about but these scriptwriters manage to achieve it. The humour is lacklustre when its there and for me the drama never hit the levels because there was nobody to care about.

Style

The show looks really good, visually it has a really great unique look to it mixed with a costume and sound design that really shines. Also the action scenes and lets face it Sex scenes because there are tonnes and tonnes of them are well filmed and well acted. But the show is easily a few episodes too long, you could have knocked 2 or 3 episodes off and this would have been a more cohesive enjoyable watch.

Overall

Overall, this is a poor show. It is clearly trying to start a new franchise but I just can't see it, it is bland in its storytelling and has no memorable characters and some great visuals and decent acting can't hide that and make this a show not really worth watching.

Two Weeks To Live Season 1 (2020) Review

Two Weeks To Live Season 1 (2020) Review

It has been a busy week for Maisie Williams with The New Mutants hitting cinema and now her new TV show Two Weeks To Live making its way way to Sky and here is my review for it. The premise of the show sees a young girl set out on a mission to avenge her fathers death.

Main Character

So as I mentioned Maisie Williams plays the main character and she does an okay job here. She does have some moments where she is a fun character and you care about her but we just don't see it enough and really I blame the writing for her character. She is just so naive and it is so unbelievable that somebody who has been trained so much would know so little about the world is unbelievable. Also, she just can't rise above the poor dialogue, which is there quite a bit and she doesn't always do a good job with it even though I think any actress would have struggled here.

Supporting Characters

I mean there are quite a few of weaker supporting characters but I will mention the ones I thought did an okay job here. Sian Clifford as Williams mum was fine and I actually thought they worked pretty well together and the dynamic was okay, I mean nothing special but you take what you can here. Sean Pertwee has a smaller role here and he is fantastic, he is so awesome here and has the best interactions with Williams in the whole show, it is just a shame that he is barely here. Now onto the weaker elements of the cast, Taheen Modak and Mawaan Rizwan plays two brothers dragged into the mess and they are truly terrible, these guys have no chemistry together and their comedic timing is just not there. The show tries to make you care about them and you just really don't. Great actor Jason Flemyng plays a crooked cop and I usually like him but he was pretty bland here and I thought he could have been played by almost anybody.

Story

The story here is all over the place, imagine the first season of the Amazon show Hanna but it's in England and is a comedy and isn't funny and that is what you have here. Every twist and turn you see coming from a mile away and it is as cliche as possible, everything that happens here you have seen somewhere else and seen much better.

Script

Easily the weak part of this show is the wrting, it is so bland and generic. Whether that is the characters or the story there is nothing original and nothing to really keep you watching or be interested in a future season. There are a couple of laughs but not enough for a comedy and not enough drama to make it a drama so who knows what they were truly going for.

Style

The style of the show does actually have some okay action, especially in the 2nd episode where it is actually well done. But the show peaks at that point and never hits this height again also thank goodness it is only 6 episodes and 30 mins long each but that doesn't give the plot time to breath and develop naturally.

Overall

Overall, this is another poor Sky show. It does nothing to drag you in and is just another generic show and I hope Williams can get back on track and start making good things.

Little Birds Season 1 (2020) Review

Little Birds Season 1 (2020) Review

This show recently hit Sky and I have watched the first season of their new show Little Birds and here is my review for it. The premise of the show sees a woman who is the daughter of a rich weapons dealer go to Tangier to marry a rich man, who is hiding a secret from her.

Main Character

Juno Temple plays Lucy the lead character and she is just functional. She does a good job of playing the bit more crazy irrational girl and when she really focuses on that it does work and she does a fine job of that. But her character just doesn't do much to make her that likeable, you never really care about her and the show does a poor job of making you understand her point of view.

Supporting Characters

David Costabile who I mainly know from Breaking Bad plays her father and he is the best part of this show, unfortunately, he just isn't in the show that much. When he is on screen he is the one you pay attention to but yeah I just wish he had been used more. The rest of the cast did nothing for me, her husband Hugo was really weak and his character was extremley dull. Also the character of Cherifa is so over the top and honestly she did nothing for me or her plot point. The rest of the cast also feels really over acted and none of them interested me.

Story

The story is all over the place here, I mean there isn't really a story here, especially for the first few episodes it feels like it doesn't know what to do. There also so many plot points on show and some of them aren't even completed and it makes you wonder why the hell they were even here, they introduce a mildly interesting plot point, but it wastes it and rushes it which is a let down.

Script

The script is also really poor, the dialogue feels cheesy and over the top and for me it just doesn't work. The drama never hits the point that it should and the attempts at humour fall flat on its face, it also doesn't help that they wrote too many plots here which means none of them succeed.

Style

The style of the show has some highlights, seeing Tangier is pretty cool and makes this feel a more unique style of show. Also the way it is shot and music that is used makes this better then it should be, but it also makes this show come across as style over substance. The style takes over from the storytelling at times and this show feels slow and that even though it is only 6 episodes it feels like the length of 10 episodes.

Overall

Overall, this is a poor show. It aims for a more stylish show instead of one with an interesting story and interesting characters and I would avoid this show.

Cursed Season 1 (2020) Review

Cursed Season 1 (2020) Review

So this show hit Netflix on Friday and I how now found time to make my way through the first season of the show Cursed and here is my review for it. The premise of the show sees a teenage sorceress who comes across a sword of power which puts her in the view of many different warring factions.

Main Character

Katherine Langford who plays Hannah on the show 13 Reasons Why plays the main character here and I thought she really tried but her character was really lacking. I think she is a talented actress and there are sometimes where it shows but there is not enough. Her character is really boring here and I didn't find anything remarkable about her at all, also at times it is actually hard to root for her or care about her which becomes an issue as the show goes on.

Supporting Characters

Gustaf Skarsgard plays Merlin her and I thought he did a good job, he is for me the most interesting character here and he gives a fun performance. I just kind of wish that he had more to do in the middle part of the season as he kind of starts as a small part of the show and becomes more important as it goes on. Daniel Sharman plays a villain here who is full of mystery, he is good in the action scenes and as you go on you learn more about his character which makes you more intrigued by him. Relative newcomer Devon Terrell plays Arthur here and I just couldn't get on board with with his character, he was also dull for me and I didn't think his and Langfords chemistry was good here to care about their relationships. Also all of the other villains came across as cheesy and dull to me especially the king, who is so over the top he feels like a part of a different show.

Story

The story for me was a real weak point of the show, the characters mostly are just not that interesting. The motivations of the characters weren't particularly interesting and it hurt in trying to make them feel multi dimensional but they just weren't. I also felt like there was too many factions in this show and it meant that some of the factions don't get the time that it needs to make you understand their motivations. The ending of the season is done okay, but there is nothing that gets me really excited if there is going to be a second season here.

Script

This was the most disappointing part of the show for me, the script was really weak and really hurt the actors performances. The drama isn't interesting and the humour here feels forced and at times is actually quite cringeworthy.

Style

For all the things that doesn't work here, I thought this show actually looked pretty good and some of the action scenes were okay. But then there were plenty of action scenes that were poorly choreographed and poorly edited together. There is also something small but I found it annoying and it is the way this show transitions between story arcs, it uses animation and for me it just feels really obnoxious and forced. Plus this season has 10 episodes and it was easily a couple too many, which causes this show to be a drag and a hard show to get to.

Overall

Overall, I was excited to watch this show, but Game Of Thrones this is not. It is so poor and it feels like a really basic fantasy show that is really basic and does nothing to stand out. If there is going to be a second season then it needs to improve so much to get me interested.

The Luminaries Mini Series (2020) Review

The Luminaries Mini Series (2020) Review

This show hit BBC last Sunday and after a long slog I have now finished The Luminaries and here is my review for the mini series. The premise of the show is set in the midst of New Zealands Gold Rush, a man and woman arrive and end up having their lives linked in a magical way.

Main Character

Despite the advertising, Eva Green is not the main character here, that goes to Eve Hawson and the best I will say is she is functional. She has some moments of emotion and through some of the actions that take place you do feel some sympathy for her though it does feel forced at times. My issue is just that she is really dull and boring here, there is very little energy to her performance and she isn't charming enough for a lead performance to truly make you invested in her or the character.

Supporting Characters

Himesh Patel is an up and coming actor and he is also functional here, he is just a good actor and no matter the content he is given here he tries to rise above it. But he just isn't an interesting character and honestly the show never gives you a good reason to care or have sympathy for her. It also doesn't help that I didn't believe in their chemistry together and really felt forced here. As mentioned Eva Green is here and she is good here, it is nowhere near her best work but she shows her star power and is the most charismatic actor here. But then again, her character has very little to get you interested and it feels like a bit of a waste of a fine actress. Marton Csokas & Callan Mulvey have good roles here and do well for the roles that they are given. Though there are way too many characters here and most of them have very little character development here.

Story

The story isn't well delivered at all, I get that this show is based on a book but I assume it is better conveyed in the pages of the book. The connection between Hawson and Patel had an interesting premise but fails to deliver due to the storytelling. The show also delves in different timelines and it doesn't always do this well, plus the ending is generic and feels like it doesn't hit the mark that it wants. It is funny though that this show has so much going on that the last episode has a character run through everything that has happened which feels really forced.

Script

For me the script isn't particularly interesting. There are no really memorable moments, it is a dark show and lacks any humour to help make the characters feel more real and more complex. Plus the drama is dull and doesn't do a good job in it's execution.

Style

A positive thing for this show is that the setting of New Zealand is really nice to look at. It sucks you into it's world and does a good job of dragging you in, also I enjoyed the layout of the final episode and I wish this show had more episodes like that. But this show is so slow and boring, it has 6 hour long episodes and it feels like this show could have achieved the same with half the episodes for sure.

Overall

Overall, this is a show with potential but it really fails to execute it and I don't feel like this is worth spending your time on and I would avoid it.

Code 404 Season 1 (2020) Review

Code 404 Season 1 (2020) Review

This show recently debuted on Sky and I have now had the chance to watch the first season of Code 404 and here is my review for it. The premise of the film sees a policeman killed, when he is bought back to life he and his partner go on the hunt for his killer.

Main Character

Daniel Mays and Stephen Graham play the main characters on this show and I thought they both did a good job in their role, Graham more then Mays. Mays is the character the show is about and I thought he was quite charming and funny at times, there are times also when he just becomes too much and becomes irritating more then funny. Stephen Graham is a fantatsic actor and he gives his best in everything and he really carries this show in my opinion, he is clearly the best actor and it is great to see him work. Their chemistry is pretty good together and it is the best part of the show to be honest.

Supporting Characters

And now onto the weaker parts of the show, the supporting cast is probably the biggest one, I just don't care about anybody else in this show. Whether it being May's wife on the show or the villains or the police officers nobody stands out at all as somebody you should like or care about and it does drag the show down.

Story

The story is pretty generic, imagine Robocop meets Hot Fuzz but in all the wrong ways. The dysfunctional partners are here, the forced love triangle is here, the crooked cops are here, the useless police chief is here. It is the most basic plot there is, it is predictable and just dull, there is nothing new here at all and the twists towards the end of the season you can see from a million miles away even though the show thinks it is really clever.

Script

The script is also not the most unique, it has some decent humour and drama in it that improves the show but again nothing you haven't seen before. The characters aren't made more interestiing by it and the plot isn't made smarter by the writing.

Style

The style of the show again is very basic, the action scenes are a particular weak point. When you have Artificial Intelligence involved it can lead to interesting fight scenes but this show doesn't do it and leaves it being very generic. It only has 6 episodes and feels like maybe it could have done with an episode more or two to really focus on the overall villain but it doesn't and leads to more questions then answers.

Overall

Overall, I didn't enjoy this season, apart from the lead performances there isn't really anything here. There are much better shows out there to watch at the minute so I would just ignore this one and not give it the 3 hours it takes to watch it.
