Ironheart (2025) Review

Ironheart (2025) Review

After Black Panther: Wakanda Forever it was pretty clear that Marvel Studios had big plans for the character of Riri Williams. After a few years of development and waiting we finally have the Ironheart series and I have watched all the episodes, here is my review. The premise of the show sees Riri return to Chicago where she has to make money in order to become the hero that she believes she can be.

Main Character

Dominique Thorne reprises her role as Williams and she is clearly a talented actor and I actually think she shows some real promise for the future of her career. The show does give her some good dramatic scenes and shows her charm. But the writing for the character is all over the place and Riri actually comes across as quite annoying and rude to everyone else on the show. They try and make her flawed and relatable but it fails for the most part.

Supporting Characters

Alden Ehenreich is a really talented actor that just hasn't quite made it huge in Hollywood and he is probably my favourite character on this show. There is a real intrigue to his character and I did have some real sympathy for him. Though the show does rush through his story arc and it feels tacked on compared to the rest of the show.

Anthony Ramos plays The Hood and is basically the villain here. He had real potential to be a great villain here, unfortunately it just fell flat for me. His motivations aren't explored enough and are incredibly basic and Ramos can't rise above this lacklustre writing.

Lyric Ross plays Natalie who is an AI based on Riri's now deceased best friend and I found her really annoying. First, the fact that this is the first AI we have seen have a body and real personality with Iron tech feels like it doesn't work. What is worse though was that I didn't buy their chemistry and there wasn't a big enough reason given for me to care about their relationship.

The rest of her support system and the other bad guys in the crew are all written poorly and not given enough time to really care about their characters and their performances.

Though there is a character who debuts in the final episode played by a big actor who was highly entertaining and a really crucial part of this series and future MCU shenanigans.

Story

The Story has some good concepts to it. It portrays Riri as a complex person and it is nice to see her dealing with human issues and not dealing with them well. But as a whole this story feels really rushed and doesn't give the characters real depth or development with an ending that feels underwhelming and kind of goes against the character of Riri.

Script

As mentioned above, I have criticised the writing for the show. But, I will say there are some genuinely good moments which are both heartfelt and funny. Though, these are few and far between with the majority of the writing feeling incredibly weak and that they don't care about the story they are telling.

Style

The show has a big budget and has some great action sequences. It is a genuine joy to see an Iron suit that isn't nanotech and feels old school. It is a shame that this show has terrible pacing, it only has 6 episodes and tries to cram everything in which causes nothing to get the time required to really hit the levels it needs.

Overall

Overall, Ironheart is an Average Show. There has been highs and lows in Marvel Television and unfortunately, Ironheart is the latter. There are some good ideas here but they just weren't executed particularly well and this is one MCU Property you don't need to watch.

Surviving Black Hawk Down (2025) Review

Surviving Black Hawk Down (2025) Review

I caught a clip for this show and I am a big fan of the film of the same subject matter. I decided to give the documentary Surviving Black Hawk Down and here is my review for the Limited series. The premise looks at the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993 where US & Somali forces battled which ended up being called Black Hawk Down.

The show does a good job in interviewing Soldiers & Civilians from both The US & Somalia in a way to try and create a more equal argument and it somewhat works and I thought the people themselves were keen to discuss the topic.

I did get a good sense of the brutality that took place on the days involving Black Hawk Down and adding the re-enactments actually did kind of help here.

Though, this show does have some issues. Mainly the fact that if you have seen the film or any slight info surrounding this event then this documentary doesn't offer anything new. The only part I wasn't fully aware of gets briefly talked about towards the end of the last episode and that was a shame.

There is a pacing issue here too, I just am not sure we needed 3 hours to tell this story. It could have been made into a film instead and really focused on the interesting parts, instead of dragging it out and having some big lulls.

Overall, Surviving Black Hawk Down is an average Documentary. It just exists and offers incredibly little to this conflicts history or its story. Respect to all the soldiers who had to go through this awful situation but I think this a documentary worth skipping, maybe watch the film instead.

The Acolyte Season 1 (2024) Review

The Acolyte Season 1 (2024) Review

The Acolyte is probably the most talked about TV show in the world recently and mostly for not good reasons but I have watched the show and will only give me own opinions and give the show a fair shot unlike most review bombers, so here is my review for the first season of The Acolyte. The premise of the show is set in The High Republic Era, when a Jedi is murdered it leads to the start of a new mysterious force.

Main Character

The show focuses on the twin sisters of Mae and Osha played by Amandla Stenberg and I have mixed feelings about these characters. I actually liked some of the performances and the direction that the show takes with both of their characters, the issue is that some of the acting is pretty wooden and they are easily not the most interesting part of the show which is a big let down.

Supporting Characters

Lee Jung-Jae plays Master Sol and for me he is the best character in the show and the person who seems to care the most about his character. The fact he learned English for this role and then knocked it out of the park says everything about his passion. Sol is a mysterious but likeable Jedi and I kind of wish he had been the main focus of the show instead of the twins.

The villain is a mystery for a large part of the show so I won't go into detail about who it is but I thought this was a really interesting villain. The way they are portrayed is fantastic and feels like a dark threat to the rest of The Jedi.

Vernestra Rwoh is a character from the books and is played by Rebecca Henderson and I thought this was an interesting supporting character. She has a different view to the Jedi then Sol and I think it showed some of the more shady elements of the Order and she did a good job with it.

Charlie Bennett as Yord and Dafne Keene as Jecki are decent characters too that were fun to watch on screen but they did have limited development over the shows run.

Story

There are elements of the story that I do enjoy. There are mysteries about The Jedi Order which makes you question how good they are and elements that aren't fitting with what we have been told. But the show misses the mark on certain things, mainly the story regarding the twins and their origins, the show spends ages on this but it falls flat and really flatters to deceive.

Script

Unfortunately, the writing for the show is where it really falls flat. There is some really cringey dialogue and the actors are clearly working really hard to make it work. The dramatic writing doesn't work and there is no humour which does make it a tough watch at times.

Style

The action scenes in The Acolyte are genuinely some of the best Star Wars action I have ever seen, it rivals iconic lightsabre duels such as Phantom Menace and Revenge of The Sith. I did actually like the feeling of The High Republic and how it felt different to the other eras of Star Wars that we have watched. But the show has real pacing issues, it spends a few episodes on flashbacks which weren't really needed and made other elements of the show feel a bit rushed.

Overall

Overall, The Acolyte is an Average Show. I liked it more then others but I cannot deny that this show does struggle to find its way to improve its quality. I think there is potential here if they do future seasons but this show isn't one you have to watch whether a Star Wars fan or not.

Jupiter's Legacy (2021) Series Review

Jupiter's Legacy (2021) Series Review

The big news came out that Netflix has cancelled Jupiter's Legacy but I powered on and watched the first and only season of the show and here is my review for it. The premise of the show sees a group of Superheroes attempt to protect the world while navigating the new and changing ideologies of the 21st century. While flashbacks document the origins of these heroes and how they discovered their powers.

Main Character

Josh Duhamel plays The Utopian and does a good job in his role. He is basically the Superman of this universe and he sells it well, he has a code of morals that you can tell he believes in so strongly that it defines the way he believes that things should be done as a superhero. Then in the flashback scenes he also manages to portray this crazy and unhinged character who is one step ahead of everybody else and sees the opportunity for the characters. But the issue is that his character, like pretty much everybody else gets bogged down by family drama and it just is dull to watch and leads the character down a more cliché and uninspiring way which hurts the strong performance Duhamel is trying to give.

Supporting Characters

There is some decent cast members here, Ben Daniels plays Brainwave, the brother of Duhamel and he is really good. He just comes across as a very cool and powerful character in the present day and that contrasts well with his character in the flashback scenes that comes across very differently. Leslie Bibb plays Duhamel's wife Lady Liberty and they are good together and she does a decent job in her role. Her character in the flashbacks isn't as interesting but she manages to give a good enough account of herself. It is a bit strange seeing Matt Lanter in live action because I am so used to him being the voice of Anakin Skywalker in The Clone Wars but he is good. He is mostly in the flashback story but he plays the rich snob pretty well and his relationship with the other characters is one of the more interesting aspects of the show. But there are plenty of issues with the cast and they are with the younger performers, Andrew Horton and Elena Kampouris play the children of Duhamel and Bibb's characters and they are so annoying, Horton is the generic hero trying to emulate his father without any real characterisation for himself. and Kampouris as Chloe is that character that is the rebel and doesn't care about anybody but it is forced and feels really detached from the rest of the show. There are so many characters introduced that it becomes really hard to care about some of them and makes you wonder where they have gone when they don't appear for a few episodes.

Story

The story deals with some interesting social and political issues with the 21st century and how superheroes would affect this. The argument between how the heroes should act with the villains works and does provided some real complex issues with the team. The origins of the older characters is quite interesting to watch as well but the issue is that it is way too long. It feels like the flashback storyline takes up so much time that we don't actually see that much of the team doing superhero stuff which is a real let down. Also there seems to be a lack of direction with the overall plot, with many different smaller stories not really coming together to make a coherent and fulfilling story.

Script

The script is okay, with a few decent comedic scenes and some decent drama that reflects interesting ideas and morality. But there is nothing that stands out at all and it just feels very paint by numbers in terms of the way it tells the story and how the characters act.

Style

The show has some decent action scenes and you can tell there was a big budget behind this show and it does provide some impressive looking moments with some appropriate violence. But the pacing of the show is off, with storylines that don't matter and characters disappearing for whole episodes in order for them to tell this really drawn out origin story for the older heroes. Plus, this might be a personal thing but I thought there was way too much slow-mo used which made the fights feel a bit hollow and less impressive despite the high stakes on show.

Overall

Overall, Jupiter's Legacy is an average show. I think this show had a lot of potential but it also felt like this was all set up for a second season that we will never get to see. For me watch The Boys on Amazon instead as this show falls way short and isn't going to be remembered by most.

This is a Robbery: The World's Biggest Art Heist Mini Series (2021) Review

This is a Robbery: The World's Biggest Art Heist Mini Series (2021) Review

This documentary made its way to Netflix today and I watched the four episodes for This is a Robbery and here is my review for it. The premise of the show looks at a case in 1990 where two men wearing Police uniforms stole 13 lucrative paintings.

First the positives, the premise is quite interesting. I knew nothing about this case or this story and the show does a pretty good job of letting you know why this whole thing was such a big deal and how it became a serious deal for plenty of people for a time.

It is also good at showing the inside of how big this whole operation ends up being and what went into making this robbery happen and how the art industry really connected to certain criminal elements such as The Mafia. Also I thought 4 episodes was a decent length and anything longer would have been too much so it just about strays on the right side on that element of the show.

But I feel like this documentary is a bit of a forgettable experience. Though I said it was interesting, I just don't think it was interesting enough to real sink its teeth into me and fully suck me in to its plot. I always wonder if a certain story needs a documentary and I think this is one of them.

I think a big issue is that the story goes in plenty of different directions especially in episodes two and three where is bogs down on some less interesting parts of its story. It starts dropping all of these names and there are so many that it becomes a bit hard to follow and that ultimately lets it down.

Overall, I think This is a Robbery is an average documentary. It is hard to make a bad documentary and this show does the bare minimum and I think unless you are really interested in the this story then give this one a miss.

Snowpiercer Season 2 (2021) Review

Snowpiercer Season 2 (2021) Review

Though I wasn't a huge fan of the first season of Snowpiercer, when the second season came around I decided to watch it and today the season finished and here is my review for it. The premise of the season sees Mr Wilford and his Big Alice train arrive to Snowpiercer where a conflict between him and the surviving leaders of the train commences.

Main Character

Sean Bean makes his debut as Mr Wilford and he is honestly the best thing about this show. He is the injection of charisma and devilry that you can't stop watching him and his presence is what really drives the show. Wilford is such a fascinating character and his addition to the show is exactly what was needed to inject some real intrigue and depth to the show. Daveed Diggs is back as Layton and similar to the first season I just really struggled to care about his character, the actor is great but Layton is such a dull character that it really hurts the show. I actually thought this season he was even worse and actually pretty unlikeable at times and for me it really dragged down the overall quality.

Supporting Characters

Jennifer Connelly's character as Melanie is given more depth this season even though she is in the show a lot less and even though her character is really important to the overall plot and Connelly does a good job with the work that she is given. Alison Wright as Ruth wasn't my favourite part of the first season but I thought she was fantastic this season, her character is really complex and really stuck between a rock and a hard place with Wright giving a great performance in the show. But the rest of the cast aren't that great or just don't get enough to work with. The train is full of characters and I just didn't care about a lot of them, Characters such as Bess, LJ and Audrey are just annoying and don't add much to the show which is a big shame for its female cast as it is a mixed bag in terms of the characters that they are given.

Story

The story is good, the conflict between Wilford and Layton is pretty interesting and the show does a good job in showing how conflicted the train becomes when Wilford returns and at least for the first act of the show it keeps this going pretty well. But this show gets really bogged down by some supporting characters and stories which could have easily been shortened or left out of the show to make it a more concise and effective storytelling experience.

Script

The script, is quite effective in terms of the drama that it builds amongst the train, it continues the tension created by the season 1 finale and builds on it nicely and creates even more depth and drama. But this show takes itself incredibly seriously and at times it is a bit too heavy and also the show suffers from the plot being all over the place in terms of the different characters and the story that is being told.

Style

The style of the show does a good job with its visual style, it shows the difference between the different parts of the train and the class systems and how they have changed since the first season. The violence still feels very severe and harsh which fits the dystopian world that has been created in this world. But the pacing of the show just doesn't quite work, if they cut some of the plot or a couple of episodes then this would be a much better show.

Overall

Overall, the 2nd season of Snowpiercer is an average show. It's funny cause the show does some things better then the first season but overall it is slightly worse and I just am not sure this show has a huge long term future and not one for people to rush to watch.

Bloodlands Season 1 (2021) Review

Bloodlands Season 1 (2021) Review

This show has been on BBC One for the last four weeks and today I decided to watch all of the episodes back to back today and here is my review for it. The premise of the show sees a Northern Irish Police Detective get drawn back into a case that took place over twenty years ago.

Main Character

James Nesbitt is a really good and maybe underrated actor and he is really great in this show. He is the detective here and he is the character that we see the show through and it is a very interesting watch for sure as he is a interesting character. He has quite a bit of complexity about him and it makes the show better with him leading the way.

Supporting Characters

Lorcan Cranitch plays his boss and I though he was decent, I mean early on the show makes it pretty clear that he isn't on the same wavelength as Nesbitt and that makes their dynamic interesting. He delivers a solid performance and has a decent chemistry with Nesbitt. Ian McElhinney who was on Game Of Thrones is here and he also gives a good performance, he has an interesting backstory and character that has some scenes with Nesbitt that are some of the best on the show. But the rest of the cast weren't so great, I actually think this show does a poor job of portraying its female characters which is a real shame. I didn't care about Nesbitt's daughter and I just never bought there connection, maybe because they don't actually share that many scenes together. Charlene Mckenna plays his partner and I thought she was okay but her character is just written too be a bit weak, like she starts to piece the investigation way too late and it ends up not mattering in the end so it just feels like she was a bit of a wasted opportunity.

Story

The story is okay, it is always interesting seeing detectives investigating a crime that has layers to it, also the show does look a bit at Northern Ireland religious and political issues which is something unique and a bit different. Also this show has a great twist about half way through and it does change the dynamic of the entire show and make the concept of the story way more interesting. But this plot does have quite a few conveniences and ridiculous coincidences that I couldn't get on board with and it also feels like the ending of the show is a bit rushed and forced to finish some of the lesser arcs that aren't given enough time.

Script

The script is functional, this show has a pretty dramatic feel to it with plenty of twists and turns along the way. This show is pretty grim though and lacks any real sense of personality and it does hurt the overall characterisation of the whole thing.

Style

The style of the show for me is where the show really falls down, it just doesn't do anything to stand out and feels very average. With the show being made by the people behind Line Of Duty, I was hoping for the same intensity in the style but it just isn't here and it feels a bit laboured. Also, usually I think 4 episodes are a good length, but either this show needed to cut some of the weaker elements of the story or have an extra episode to wrap everything up in a more fulfilling way.

Overall

Overall, this is an average show. It has its moments and James Nesbitt is great but there isn't enough to really sink your teeth into and get invested into and this is one of those shows that sometime could be worth a quick watch but now with everything out it is probably one to skip.

Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (2021) Series Review

Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (2021) Series Review

Last month Netflix announced this new documentary called Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel and it had many intrigued including myself and that is why today I sat down and watched the four episodes for the documentary and here is my review for it. The premise of the documentary sees in 2013 a young girl go missing from a hotel, but this hotel has a shady history.

First onto the positives, this is a really harrowing case and when the investigators are taking you through it you really feel for them and you go through the same mindset as them. The case starts off in a really interesting way and I can't deny that it sucks you in and makes you investigate with them.

It also helps that this hotel is actually really interesting. Some of the guests that have stayed there are outrageous and some of the harrowing things that have happened there is like something out of a movie it is that crazy. I wish this could have been explored more as I couldn't believe this hotel was allowed to operate and stay open when all of the things ae revealed.

But this show really falls flat, it feels like there was enough content for a couple of episodes but they wanted to stretch it out and it just felt like there was plenty of unnecessary content here to do with elements of LA and it felt like it didn't really feel like it had to be here.

This show also falls apart when it introduces this group of youtoubers who feel like they are only here to try and promote their channels and it becomes really annoying and they don't really add much to the whole thing. In fact the show does a good job in showing how terrible these people were and people continue to be even though I don't think that was their intention.

This show also relies on lots of speculation and theories without supporting evidence. It just feels like we're watching a group of people who aren't experts give their opinion that really doesn't matter and that nobody cares about.

Overall, this show has a really interesting start and idea but it just doesn't know how to execute and that is why for me it really falls flat and ends up being very average despite a strong start.

ZeroZeroZero (2021) Series Review

ZeroZeroZero (2021) Series Review

This show has been heavily marketed by Sky, so even though it has taken me a bit longer then I expected or wanted I have watched the eight episodes of ZeroZeroZero and here is my review for it. The premise of the show sees a cocaine shipment making its way to Europe, which affects shady groups of Americans, Italians & Mexicans in unique ways.

Main Character

There are so many characters in this show with pretty equal screen time but I decided to choose the most recognisable actors to me and probably the majority of people as the main characters Andrea Riseborough & Dane DeHaan. They are both good actors and that shows here with them both giving pretty decent performances but the issue is with their characters. Despite their decent acting I never cared about either of them and I found it difficult to become invested in their story so it kind of shut me off despite the fact I can clearly see they are giving decent performances.

Supporting Characters

There are also plenty of supporting characters with the best one for me being the character of Manuel played Harold Torres. I thought this guy was great and his part of the story was the most interesting and captivating and a lot of that was due to him. He has an interesting character and as you find out more about him and his beliefs you see just how twisted everything around him is. The rest of the cast didn't do too much for me, the whole Italian part of the story was disappointing and the characters just weren't particularly interesting and that does harm the show.

Story

As I've alluded to above there are really three elements of the story and the Mexican stuff is the best by far. The politics are interesting and I think the motivations of the characters was at its best in that arc and had me at my most interesting. The American stuff was also fine but didn't hit the levels of the other story. The problem is that the stories don't connect that much and they just became a bit convoluted. Like there is a point in time where the Italian story isn't seen for 2 episodes so I forgot what was going on with it and why I should care about it. The ending of the show didn't do too much for me
and felt like it played it pretty safe and not fulfilling enough.

Script

Again a similar story with the script, the writing for the characters in Mexico is interesting, thought provoking and captivating but that is only one portion for the show and it feels like the rest of the show lacks that. There are some generic bits and it isn't fully explained why certain characters have the motivations that they have and it doesn't help the show at all.

Style

The show has some heavy hitting action scenes and some brutal moments that really remind you of the harsh reality of the world the show is in. The cinematography is also great and the show does a really good job of making all three parts of the story feel different and have the look and sound design fit those places. But the pacing of the show is all over the place, it is way too slow and has too many episodes. By having the three stories it feels unfocused and like certain stories get ignored at times and this makes you care less, I just wish either cut one of the stories or make them connect in greater detail earlier.

Overall

Overall, I thought this was a pretty average paint by numbers show. I've looked online and seen really positive reviews so maybe this is just one I can't connect with and it is good for people. But for me unless you love cartel and gang shows then I wouldn't spend time on ZeroZeroZero.

His Dark Materials Season 2 (2020) Review

His Dark Materials Season 2 (2020) Review

For the last 7 weeks, His Dark Materials second season has been on BBC One and now it has finished so here is my review. The premise of the season sees Lyra and Will come together to attempt to find an object to protect them both from evil forces.

Main Character

Dafne Keen is back as Lyra and once again she is really good in the role. It is just really easy to root for her and want to see her succeed in her quest and I also think she has matured in the role and showing stronger acting ability. Amir Wilson plays Will and I must admit I didn't warm to him at first, whether that was the first season or this season but he bought me around. I really liked the dynamic between Lyra and Will as the season progressed and I actually believed they had a friendship and that it had been developed throughout the season.

Supporting Characters

Ruth Wilson plays Mrs Coulter and again she is really good here, her character is well developed and unlike the first season I actually believed she cared about Lyra and despite her own personal goals that plays much heavier in this season which is a nice development here. Lin Manuel Miranda and Andrew Scott are the team-up we never knew we needed, for me they are the most entertaining part of the show and really do a great job in adding some fun tot this show while keeping with the depth. However, the rest of the cast didn't work for me, Simone Kirby's character annoyed the hell out of me, mainly because the part of the plot she was involved in and how it just takes away from the mystique that the show has built up. All the stuff to do with the witches and magisterium starts off alright but falls flat and flatters to deceive and feels like a waste of time.

Story

The story had me pretty much shaking my head throughout and felt like a weaker element then in the previous season. Yes the relationships between Lyra and Will is well handled and Lin Manuel Miranda and Andrew Scott are a fun pairing but the way they finished these characters arcs this season really disappointed me. So much that it has me questioning whether I even want to bother with the next season. I would say there is more going on this season that isn't connected to Lyra and it just isn't particularly interesting and it makes some of the mistakes of last season while creating whole new ones.

Script

The show does have some well written scenes in it for sure mainly between the main characters and that does a good job in making them pretty likeable and well done. But this show suffers from weak circumstantial writing, every show is guilty of it but I thought this show suffered with it more and it bogged down the show for me and made it harder for me to get on board.

Style

The one thing this show has for it is that it looks fantastic, the world looks great and that continues this season as visually the show does stand out from others. Due to the pandemic this show had 7 episodes instead of 8 and there is not much they could have done about that but to me it did feel like there was parts of the show that was missing and underdeveloped which is a shame considering the world that is built through the two seasons.

Overall

Overall, the second season is a step down in quality and only represents an average show. I think if you weren't convinced by the first season then this won't do much more for you and if they continue like this I do worry for this shows future.

Evil Season 1 (2020) Review

Evil Season 1 (2020) Review

Despite this show being released last year in The US, we only got this show in The UK recently and I have now finished the first season of Evil and here is my review for it. The premise of the show sees a psychologist joining a priest in training to investigate mysterious cases and whether they are scientific or paranormal.

Main Character

Katja Herbers plays Kristen the lead character here and she is fine, I actually think she gives a strong performance and you see that Herbers is a really talented actress that hopefully gets to do some big projects in the future, I just feel like she has been let down with the writing for her character. Her character is just not particularly likeable and it is difficult to really care about her which is a real issue when she is the lead character.

Supporting Characters

Mike Colter of former Luke Cage fame plays David and I thought he was really good here, it is interesting to see him as a priest and he does a good job despite the fact they don't delve into his character enough. Some interesting things are revealed about him but never really looked at enough and I just kind of wish the show could have done more with his character. Aasif Mandvi plays Ben and he is the third member of the team and he was fun to watch, I actually thought he and Herbers had good chemistry together and was an enjoyable character on this show. But there are some characters I really didn't care for, Michael Emmerson plays the villain here and he is really over the top and cheesy, I didn't find his character interesting and his whole motivations wasn't enough for me to really care. Then we get onto those damn kids, the on screen daughters of Kristen were so annoying and got on my nerves throughout the show as did Kristen's mother who was a weak part of the show.

Story

The story has an interesting idea behind it, I thought the three main actors did a good job and most of the cases they come across are interesting and do a lot to keep you interested in watching every week. It eventually looks to build the season narrative and I think there is something there but it takes way too long and feels like it is just a set up to the second season instead of delivering a great first season and hopefully it is worth it next season. There are so many subplots here and the majority of them are super dull and offer very little to this show and one of the biggest sins is that the season finale just feels like another episode and doesn't do enough to really ramp up stuff and feel like a big deal.

Script

The script is okay, as I said above the dynamic between the main trio is well handled and well written to be a pretty good group of characters and that should be applauded. But there is nothing to this dialogue, I cannot remember one big dramatic scene or one scene I laughed with and that is a big let down and shows how average it is.

Style

The style of the show doesn't really hold back, it goes as far towards horror as it possibly can and does a good job of that which in my opinion does stand out a bit. But there is no denying that this is a very episodic structure and for me a good few of the episodes could have been avoided and get the main plot moving quicker.

Overall

Overall, I feel like this is a pretty average first season of Evil that doesn't offer too much for me. Though I think a second season could be much better so this might be one I stick with but I wouldn't say you have to rush to watch it.

Raised By Wolves Season 1 (2020) Review

Raised By Wolves Season 1 (2020) Review

So this show was really the first big show made by HBO Max in the US, now the Ridley Scott led project has hit the UK and I have watched Raised By Wolves and here is my review for the first season. The premise of the show sees a pair of androids tasked with looking after a group of kids on a new planet.

Main Character

Amanda Collin plays Mother who is the main character of the show and I think she does a good job, she does a good job of playing the android and you see the show really through her eyes and you learn quite a bit about her and I think Collin does good work with it. But I just have some issues with her character, it is hard to talk about it without spoilers but all I will say is that about the middle part of the show she decides to do something and it just didn't make sense and after that moment I just thought her character was a bit dull.

Supporting Characters

Travis Fimmel is the biggest name on this show and for me he is also the best character on this show. The guy just has so much charisma to him and so much charm and his character has the best individual story on show here. Abubakar Salim plays Father and I actually quite liked him, I thought the dynamic between him and Collin was well handled and I thought it was a nice relationship that they had that was one of the things that was developed pretty well. But the rest of the cast didn't do much for me, mainly the young actors and actresses, I always find it hard to critique young performers but this show requires plenty from there child actors and none of them stand out with a few of them not doing a great job for me. I mean the main one Campion, this kid was so annoying and I just couldn't stand him which made it much harder to care about him or the rest of the kids on the show.

Story

Onto one of the most convoluted and confusing stories any show will have in not just 2020 but in many years, first onto what I liked, everything to do with Travis Fimmel and his character, for me it is where the intrigue and most interest came from. There was also some interesting ideas towards the end of the show which sets up an interesting future for this franchise. But honestly a lot of the time I felt like things weren't explained enough and felt very strange and out there. It also feels like Ridley Scott has been a bit lazy here, if you have seen Prometheus then you have seen something similar to this show in terms of its feel and story so if you like that fil then this might be for you.

Script

The script was a mixed bag again there was some decent drama and intrigue but it was everything involving Fimmel and his storyline and shows why for me it was the best part of this show. But this show is very wordy without much depth, especially when describing the world and the whole android stuff, it thinks it is really interesting and it just isn't.

Style

The show does have a high budget and a very stylistic manner and for the most part it works and makes this show feel big in the way it is shown that makes it stand out. But as I mentioned above I felt like this show feels a bit lazy in terms of you have seen it before, especially from Ridley Scott which does hold it back a bit. Also this show is paced very slowly and it sometimes feels like a drag which could have done with a few less episodes.

Overall

Overall, I thought this was a pretty average show, there are good elements but it feels very heavy handed and dull to me. I think only hardcore Sci-Fi fans will like this one and one others can easily skip this show.

The Haunting Of Bly Manor Mini Series (2020) Review

The Haunting Of Bly Manor Mini Series (2020) Review

So with it being October, we have the obligatory Horror TV shows and films and this is the biggest one so far this year, the second in The Haunting Hill Collection - The Haunting Of Bly Manor and here is my review for it. The premise of the show sees when a nannie dies, she is replaced by an American girl who has to go to The English Manor in Bly, where she comes across interesting people and possibly more spiritual things amongst the house.

Main Character

Victoria Pedretti who played a role in the first Haunting Hill show plays Dani the lead here and honestly I felt like she was the worst part of the show, it is fair to say that for a show to succeed you have to care about the main character and I never did. She was just so bland and I don't know what it was about her performance but I just thought she was really boring and I found it hard to ever really care about her and I felt like the show never really gave the audience a reason too. Also another issue that the majority of the supporting cast are great and it makes her stand out more.

Supporting Characters

As I said above the supporting cast are really good, first onto the two creepiest kids on television. The young girl who voices Peppa Pig which is really creepy in itself is particularly great but these kids are a real highlight of the show and add so much to it. T'Nia Miller & Rahul Kohli are great in there roles as the housekeeper and chef respectively, they add a lot to the show and they are the most likeable and probably some of the more interesting characters here. To be honest the rest of the cast are pretty good too, even though I think the show tries to focus on a few too many characters but that doesn't hurt the pretty strong supporting characters.

Story

The story is interesting and build the suspense well, you are curious as to what is going on and what is wrong with this place. Some of the characters have interesting backstories and characters with decent arcs to them, but this show suffers from having to show pretty much every characters backstories. It feels like at least half of this show is just flashbacks, heck there is at least one whole episode of flashbacks which was unnecessary and could have been done in a cleverer way. Also I wasn't a huge fan of the final episode of the show, it just seemed to drag and it felt quite different to the other 8 episodes of the show.

Script

The script is okay, there is some decent dramatic scenes and some well written characters and the tension is built pretty well. But this show is a bit too convoluted at times, you are kind of trying to piece things together and then they throw something else at you not giving you time to take in the last big thing. Also I thought the use of the narrator here didn't really make much sense, even though it does have a good payoff at the end.

Style

This show does a good job of building tension and being pretty creepy. The score and atmosphere do a great job in emphasising that and really making you feel that you are trapped in this manor with these people. Though like most shows there are too many episodes here, maybe if they didn't have to spend so long on everybody's backstories there could have been like 6 episodes and it would have flowed better. Also for a show that is meant to be scary, I was rarely scared, though thank god there is hardly any jump scares so that is a good thing.

Overall

Overall, this is another average show, what is it with this year and shows that have promise but ultimately fail. It has some creeps but falls flat but go and watch The Haunting of Hill House as I have heard it is much better then this show.

Lovecraft Country Season 1 (2020) Review

Lovecraft Country Season 1 Review (2020)

So after 10 weeks the first season of the new show Lovecraft Country has finished and here is my review for it. The premise of the season sees a young African-American travel across the UK in the 1950's to find his missing Father.

Main Character

Jonathan Majors who might be more busy in the future if reports that he will play Kang in the MCU plays Atticus the lead role here and he does a great job. It is just really easy to root for Atticus and it is interesting to see his character develop over the season and he is more then just your one dimensional hero and that makes him a worthy character here. Jurnee Smollett who played Black Canary in Birds of Prey plays Leti and she was the star of the show for me, she is just such a strong character and honestly she owns every scene that she is in. She is an interesting character and along with Atticus they are two great lead performers and really drag this show to a higher level.

Supporting Characters

Michael Kenneth Williams is a great actor and he plays Montrose and he gives a really strong performance, there are elements of his character that don't quite work but Williams does a great job anyway and gives a really strong emotional performance. But I thought the rest of the supporting characters were really forgettable, whether it be the generic White female villain, or the supporting female cast that don't really have much to do, none of them were that interesting and the Majors, Smollet and Williams are carrying the show on their backs.

Story

The story does some really good things, the show feels very brutal especially when it focuses on its racial tension that is here in force. But I also liked somewhat how this subject matter was well handled and was blended with Horror and Sci-Fi to make this show have a more unique feeling and more unique storytelling options then other shows that deal with racial inequality. But this show overreaches so heavily, it tries to do so much that it becomes hard to follow and over the top taking away from some of the great acting and great visuals. Elements of the story weren't necessary and it felt like they were just filling time because certain characters had to return later on in the season, which I also wasn't a huge fan of the ending of the season either.

Script

The script has some really good and powerful dramatic moments, there is real emotion there and you actually will feel emotion towards elements of the show. But then there are some overly confusing things and clearly parts of the plot that the writers took less time and less effort with and it is very clear what those are.

Style

The style has a huge budget behind it, you can tell HBO are looking for a Game Of Thrones replacement and there is no doubt that visually this show is brilliant and really impressive and add to the quality of the show. But the pacing is off, there are just too many episodes and too many story arcs that don't matter and could have been left on the cutting room floor which would have made the show much better.

Overall

Overall, this is an average first season of this show. I feel like there is so much potential here and if there is a second season then that could be much better but as it stands the first season just isn't worth the time put into it.

Ratched Season 1 (2020) Review

Ratched Season 1 (2020) Review

This show hit Netflix last week and I have managed to finish the first season of the One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest Prequel Ratched and here is my review for it. The premise of the season sees Doctor Mildred Ratchet begin work at a leading psychiatric hospital, where she actually has darker intentions.

Main Character

Sarah Paulson plays Ratched and I thought she did a really good job here. She speaks very softly and that is actually more unnerving then her going around screaming everywhere, so I thought that made her an interesting person in this show. She is easily the most interesting thing about this show and that is mainly due to the charisma that Paulson oozes on screen. But, I had some issues with the character. When you are playing a version of an established character it is important to at least pretend like you care about that but that isn't here, Paulson just plays herself and her character is literally nothing like the version in the film and that hurt my viewing, and some of the things they do with the character just didn't work for me.

Supporting Characters

Jon Jon Briones plays the main doctor of the facility and I thought he did a good job in his role, the show surrounds this character in mystery and it makes him pretty interesting and Briones adds a lot to his character. It is just the show never goes far enough with it, it skids around it and doesn't give you enough to fully get yourself interested and feels like it sweeps the leg out from under the character. Judy Davis also does a good job as Nurse Bucket and I think her performance rose above the character and managed to make her slightly memorable. Unfortunately, the rest of the cast just didn't grip me, Finn Wittrock plays the main bad guy and he just didn't captivate me, it is clear he is meant to be playing this crazy guy but I never actually thought he acted that crazy which made it hard to buy this personality that he was going for. Cynthia Nixon plays a companion to Ratched and their whole thing just didn't quite work for me, it just wasn't developed enough for me and when it started up it just seemed to come out of nowhere and felt it was put in here for other more political reasons. Corey Stoll, Vincent D'onofrio and Sharon Stone all have roles here and they are all fine but their characters are just so generic and it does feel like they are wasted and any actor could have played them and they could have saved some money there.

Story

The story is fine, some of the things that go on in the mental hospital are interesting and it is just funny how some people thought illnesses were treated back then. Also seeing Paulson's characters plan is well executed at least in the first few episodes, she seems calculated and pretty ruthless which makes sense and then the show basically forgets about it. The majority of all the supporting plots are uninteresting and aren't really given much to work with, I mean the plot involving Stone and Brandon Flynn from 13 Reasons Why doesn't really add anything to the show and you wonder why it is being shown when it seems to end in an earlier episode. It just seems unfocused and even though the ending is decent, I just wonder if they could have cut a few stories and really focus up the plot.

Script

The script is okay, it builds the tension quite well and Paulson delivers her lines really well to add mystery and intrigue to her character and the plot overall. But overall, the drama and humour never hits the level that is required and it doesn't quite have the complexity that the original film had.

Style

The style of the show has some pretty violent and over the top horror which mostly worked for me and the tension was built pretty well in the hospital with some well paced scenes. Also there are times where I thought colour was used well to convey actions and emotions but then there are times where I think it was done pretty poorly. It seems showrunner Ryan Murphy who is known for his over the top style fell asleep in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and decided just to make the facility and world incredibly vibrant and over the top which slaps the film in the face and feels like it doesn't pay an attention to it at all.

Overall

Overall, this show disappointed me, I just don't really understand why this character and world needed a prequel. It is just very average and not memorable at all, their are just so many shows that are average at the moment and again for me Ratched isn't worth the 8 hours to watch it.

Young Wallander Season 1 (2020) Review

Young Wallander Season 1 (2020) Review

This show hit Netflix on Thursday and with it having only 6 episodes I thought I would give it a watch, I mean I got distracted by playing the new Avengers Game on my PS4 but here is my review for the show. The premise of the show sees a young cop come across his first investigation which changes his look on his life.

Main Character

Adam Palsson who is about the only thing Swedish about this show, which I will go into more later plays Wallander here and he does an alright job, I know very little about the character in the books so I am just judging him on his performance here. He is a likeable enough guy in the lead and you will end up rooting for him in his investigation. But there is just nothing special about him here, honestly he is just a police officer and I just didn't find anything to truly hook myself onto him. I think it is mostly the scenes that involve his personal relationships that I didn't quite care for and it were the weaker elements of the show.

Supporting Characters

Now we get into the cast, which are not Swedish at all, first of all is Richard Dillane who plays Wallander's boss and I thought he was good here. He is a good boss, tough when he needs to be but willing to support his staff when necessary and I think that comes across well, he is just a cool mentor for Wallander and their dynamic investigating the crime is the highlight here. The rest of the cast didn't do much for me, their is a romance here, and I guess it is okay I just never got invested into it because it is totally rushed and feels like it was just thrown in here because every show needs a romance. The villains aren't given much time for you to care and when the motivations are revealed it isn't that interesting and it is more that we don't actually learn enough. Also Wallander has a friend that he seemingly cares about, until he forgets about him for the second half of the season.

Story

The story is interesting as you see the cops attempt to work out a murder which takes place at the beginning of the show, the show takes twists and turns that mostly work well and will keep you watching and invested in the plot. It is just that there are some parts of the plot that didn't quite work for me and they mainly involve Wallander's personal life, I understand why they are here but they didn't do much for me and mostly get forgotten about towards the end of the season. Also the ending just straight up sucks, it totally screws over Wallander as a character and makes you wonder why you supported him throughout this show.

Script

The script does a good job with its twists, for a show like this that is crucial, as it keeps you watching for the six episodes. But none of the dialogue really stands out at all, there is no humour and the drama just never hits the really high levels.

Style

This show does a good job in intriguong you as these people go though investigating different people and places and I must admit I wasn't sure where it was going with it's story and that is down to how it is filmed. This show has a methodical pace, it works at times and doesn't work at others, mainly it feels like you can go a whole episode without the pace picking up at all and it does come across as more slow then methodical. Also the cast is just a bit strange, it really emphasises the different cultures in Sweden yet a pretty much all British cast slaps that notion in the face and I wish more Swedish actors could have been used.

Overall

Overall, this is an average show that I expect will be forgotten by next week. If Netflix were aiming for a new franchise here I don't think this is it and unless you haven't got anything to watch, I would avoid this show.

The Flash Season 6 (2019) Review

The Flash Season 6 (2019) Review

After a long delay I have now managed to finish the 6th season of The Flash and even though the production of the show had to shut down due to Covid 19 they got a pretty complete show and here is my review for it. The premise of the season sees Barry attempt to prepare the team for the upcoming Crisis while a new villain arises aiming to take over the city.

Main Character

Grant Gustin has played the character of Barry Allen for 7 years now and he has done a great job, but I thought this was one of his weaker turn outs as the character. He is still good and provides a lot to the character but I just think it is the way he is written. He spends a lot of the season moping and brooding and I would rather that be saved for Arrow, this show and character has always had dark elements to it but it has always been hopeful but I feel like this season went away from that more then usual.

Supporting Characters

Tom Cavanagh has played many different versions of the character Harrison Wells and have normally done a good job at it, he plays Nash Wells this season a multiverse archaeologist and I ended up liking this character. He starts off as a bit of a weak character but he grows throughout the season and actually has a nice arc that makes him an entertaining character by the end. Danielle Panabaker gets a chance to play Frost more this season and she does a good job in the role, her character is interesting and really does a good job in separating the characters Caitlin and Frost which I think the show struggled with in previous seasons. But the rest of the cast struggled for me, Candice Patton as Iris has been a strong character in previous seasons, though not always given the best writing and she struggles with that this season. Patton does her best but the character's arc isn't interesting and it is hard to talk about it without spoilers but I wasn't a huge fan of the direction they take her character. Carlos Valdes as Cisco has been one of the most likeable characters on this show but for some reason I found him annoying this season, he again goes a darker route with the character and it seems like the majority of scenes he is in, he is angry with somebody. I also wasn't a fan of Joe's and Ralph's story arcs as they felt like an afterthought and just shoved in there, also the villains of the season were just really dull and among the most lacklustre that the show have had.

Story

The story, is much stronger during the first half of the show. It deals with Barry trying to prepare the team and it is interesting in the different ways he goes by this and how the characters develop, also the villain before Crisis is the better one of the two villains but he gets his legs swept from under him. Similar to Arrow, this show struggles in a post Crisis world, it has to focus on the changes made by the crossover that it finds it difficult to focus on its story and kind of becomes muddled. Also the ending is a bit abrupt, it is difficult because of Covid 19 but it still does feel like this season is incomplete.

Script

The script of this show has usually been quite strong but again it is a weaker point of the show. The humour isn't as funny and the drama isn't emotional, it has its moments when it shows the quality of the show and the characters but these are few and far compared to previous seasons.

Style

The style of the show has usually had impressive visuals and this show still has some, though not as much as usual. It is cool seeing The Flash run through Central City stopping bad guys and the different power sets of villains is well handled. But there are some that look poor, mainly Elongated Man's powers which has always looked bad and does still here, but we won't have to see it for much longer due to real life implications. Also the pacing of the show struggles because of the Crisis crossover and the Covid 19 pandemic, it feels like the story needs a few more episodes to get the story across but fails at this.

Overall

Overall, I actually think this is the weakest season of The Flash and like other shows in this universe it struggles with dealing with the Crisis crossover and really only true fans of the show will be still watching.

Supergirl Season 5 (2019) Review

 Supergirl Season 5 (2019) Review

After a longer runtime then usual due to the pandemic and the crisis on infinite earths crossover I have finished the 5th season of Supergirl and here is my review for the show. The premise of the season sees Supergirl attempt to stop an ancient organisation called Leviathan, while Jonn Jonzz has to deal with the return of his long lost brother.

Main Character

Melissa Benoit is back as Supergirl this season and I have just never fully cared about her performance as the character as she is just a bit cheesy and dull, but she is fine and really comes across as a superhero. She has grown into the role well and their are elements of her performance I like and I actually thought her normal identity was more interesting but they don't give it enough time to get the chance to breath and develop.

Supporting Characters

The show has plenty of characters to try and balance this season and doesn't always do a great job of it, the main one being David Harewood as Jonn Jonzz AKA The Martian Manhunter. The first half od the season does a great job with the character as he has a real personal story, and Harewood delivers a really strong dramatic performance. But then he is just forgotten about for the second half of the season. Braniac 5 played by Jesse Rath has the opposite problem, he doesn't really have much to do in the first half of the season, but after the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover he gets an interesting new story that fleshes out the character and puts him on a different course then he was in the beginning of the season. But lets get to the show stealer of the show, again he doesn't do anything till after the crossover but Jon Cryer is back as Lex Luthor and he steals every scene that he is in. His character is just so well written and it makes him possibly the most complex villain that there has been in this whole universe. But there are also some weaker characters, Katie McGrath is back as Lena Luthor and they showed promise for the character at the end of last season but they follow it up poorly and take a potentially interesting character and turn her into a bland character. Chyler Leigh as Alex has probably been the most important supporting character but I thought this was the season where the show doesn't give her much to do and actually at times her character actually came off as quite annoying. I thought Nicole Maines as Dreamer was a really important character last season, but this season basically forgets about her for the majority and it is such a let down, there is one episode where she stands out but it doesn't make up for the weak use of her character. The main villains of the season are a group called Leviathan but they are so generic and dull that it really hurts the season as a whole.

Story

The story has some good individual arcs to it, the highlight being Martian Manhunters in the first half of the season, Brainiac 5's and Lex Luthors from the second half. They are done well, especially seeing Luthor plot and scheme as it adds more complexity to the plot, But due to the Coronavirus, the majority of these plots aren't finished to a satisfying degree and it left me disappointed, even though I am sure they will try and make up for it in the 6th season. They do have an interesting concept of technology versus nature but they miss the mark which doesn't help with the villains being ultimately forgettable and a huge let down.

Script

The script is a mixed bag, the writing for some of the characters is done well, but then the others are done poorly. There is some good drama here again mainly to do with the characters I mentioned that are treated right, but then there is some poor drama too that feels forced and the majority of the humour didn't quite work unless it involved Lex Luthor.

Style

The style of the show has some exciting action scenes, this show is possibly the show that involves the biggest action scenes and the spectacle usually works, even though sometimes the CGI doesn't quite hit the levels they want to. Also the fact that there are 19 episodes is just too many, but also at the same time due to the pandemic it actually feels like an unfulfilling ending which is quite ironic.

Overall

Overall, this is once again a pretty average season of this show. After enjoying the 4th season of the show I was hoping for a great follow up but it doesn't achieve that and unless you are already a fan of this show this won't do much for you.

Crisis On Infinite Earths Crossover Event (2020) Review

Crisis On Infinite Earths Crossover Event (2020) Review

So finally all 5 parts of the DC Arrowverse crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths has hit the UK and I have got through them all and here is my review for it. The premise of the crossover sees the heroes of the multiverse have to come together and stop The Anti Monitor from unleashing power to destroy every Earth in existence.

Main Character

Stephen Amell is at the end of his road with playing Oliver Queen/Green Arrow and for his last crossover he does a good job here. He is given a different role then he is used to in the previous crossovers but it is done well and it feels like the show gives Oliver more of a spotlight for being the first hero in this universe. Though I thought other main characters The Flash played by Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoit as Supergirl weren't given the shine as much because of it, it just feels like ther importance isn't played up as much which feels surprising considering how much the first half of The Flash season 6 has been setting up The Flash for Crisis. It is not that they are bad it is just they don't have that much to do.

Supporting Characters

There is a huge supporting cast here but I will mainly aim for the ones who have the largest role here. I have watched the first half of the first season of Batwoman and I haven't been sold on Ruby Rose's performance as Kate Kane but I actually think she is better here bouncing off of the other heroes, I mean it looks like this will be her last crossover and that is a disappointment as I feel there was potential for her to improve here. Sarah Lance played by Caity Lotz has always been a great character whether on Arrow or Legends Of Tomorrow and she is really great here, she really takes charge in the last few episodes and gets more time to shine and she does a great job adding some depth to the drama in the show. I have to admit that when Jon Cryer was cast as Lex Luthor I wasn't sure if he was a great choice, but wow I was wrong. He is fantastic in the role and just has such a quick wit and charisma that he is devilishly charming in the role and even though he is a clear villain you can't help but find him entertaining. But this show also wastes some of his characters, I mean if you are a fan of certain characters in this universe you will be let down as quite a few of the characters aren't really here or given a chance to shine. Plus the characters of The Monitor and The Anti Monitor are wasted and ultimately boring, Arrow set up The Monitor to be more interesting but this crossover fails on that and he just becomes a boring character and The Anti-Monitor is more boring as he is just a dumb villain that literally has no character.

Story

The story is the largest this universe has ever done and it demonstrates that pretty well, some things happen here that feel huge in nature and it feels like it could affect it for the future and this really allows some exciting things that could happen in the future. But this character does struggle with balance, it has so many characters and it tries to give too many of them individual story arcs and especially at the beginning of the crossover it can be hard to follow and feel like too much is going on for unnecessary reasons. Also there are some cameos that feel really forced here which takes away from the story and it feels like it doesn't do much to help the telling of this tale.

Script

The script is okay, it has some decent drama and nice humour I mean mainly from Lex Luthor but I can't deny that it is here. Though it must be said there is some poor dialogue here that feels pretty cringe which isn't the first time that it has happened with these shows.

Style

Now this is the largest ever event in this universe so the action should be the biggest yes, and yeah it is, it is large in scale and it does feel cool seeing all these heroes working together and fighting these large forces. But the enemies aren't that interesting and it is clear that the budget was stretched here and at times the CGI looks poor and like it just can't hold up what is needed.

Overall

Overall, this should have been the biggest and best crossover for The Arrowverse but for me it just felt pretty short. It is just distinctly average and doesn't do enough to hit the levels that it wanted to and it feels like the build to this hasn't been worth the time and hype.

Fear City: New York Vs The Mafia (2020) Mini Series Review

Fear City: New York Vs The Mafia (2020) Mini Series Review

One company that has really benefited from the worldwide Lockdown has been Netflix and once again the are back with a documentary called Fear City: New York Vs The Mafia and here is my review for it. The premise of the show looks at how the police attempted to take down the New York Mafia crime families in one go.

So, for the me The Mafia is a really interesting subject and one thing I like about the documentary is the way it shows people from the police and the mafia and the different ways they look at it from the two different perspectives.

Also they do a good job in showing just how big the mafia had got in New York and just how many people in the FBI it took to take part in this job and this documentary.

But this show just isn't very memorable at all, I guess it is one of those things, we have seen so much of The Mafia in films and TV series whether more factual or cinematic that nothing really surprises me or shocks me which is a let down here.

It also feels like there is a lack of detail here, usually I am happy with three episodes in a documentary but I thought more detail could have helped here, and maybe a further episode which looked at the aftermath of the Rico Case

Overall, this is just a very forgettable documentary, the mafia is interesting but this show did nothing to keep me invested and though not bad won't be one to watch unless you are Mafia obsessed.
