Temuera Morrison Reportedly Recast As Boba Fett For The Mandalorian Season 2

Temuera Morrison Reportedly Recast As Boba Fett For The Mandalorian Season 2

Big news coming out today is that Jango Fett actor Temuera Morrison has been recast in the role of Boba Fett for The Mandalorian Season 2. Now Morrison played Jango Fett in Attack Of The Clones and was the genetic template of the clone army, Boba Fett was his son an unaltered clone so this makes sense. Once this decision was made Morrison redubbed the lines of Boba Fett in Empire Strikes Back so was officialy Boba Fett and now it seems like he will be set to reprise the role in The Mandalorian's 2nd Season. I am going to go through a few reasons why this decision might have been made and what it could lead too.

A way to actually make the character important

As we all know Boba Fett was killed in Return Of The Jedi when he was eaten by The Sarlaac after really not doing much in the films at all, he looked cool but did very little. Now in the legends comics he was resurrected and did many cool things and that is where the love for the character really comes from. I think now it seems he will be ressurected in the new canon then this is the chance to finally give the character a chance to shine in this universe.

Could Morrison also be playing Captain Rex

Now onto an interesting part of the reports, is that Morrison will play another role on the show and even though that has not been revealed people believe that could be Captain Rex. We know Captain Rex has the genetic template of Jango Fett so Morrison could fit the role, we also know of his relationship with Ashoka who will be in this show so that seems like a natural fit and could we even see Boba Fett and Rex come face to face this season.

Could lead to an interesting conflict with The Mandalorian

As revealed in The Clone Wars Show, Jango Fett was actually not a Mandalorian and stole his armour meaning that Boba Fett is also not a Mandalorian but he wears the armour. We know The Mandalorian on the show is a very loyal Mandalorian even to the extent that he won't take off his helmet in front of a living person. When he meets this fake Mandalorian how will that encounter go and it is something I am very interested in.

Set to be a small role could it lead to his own spinoff show

The report also says that Boba Fett will be a small role on The Mandalorian Season 2 so it makes me wonder why bother if it is only going to be a small role. This week we have heard that director Josh Trank was set to make a Boba Fett film until they seperated ways, so I think this cameo will lead to a Boba Fett series on Disney+. It does worry me as I think both Ashoka and Fett will have shows set up but I think if handled very well it could set up a really interesting future for Star Wars on TV.
