Captain Marvel 2 Announced by Marvel Studios - Iman Vellani to appear as Ms Marvel 

Another day and another Marvel announcement to talk about. This time it is the announcement that The Captain Marvel sequel has been announced for 2022 and that Iman Vellani will be reprising her role from the Ms Marvel Disney+ show for the film which is interesting enough to talk about in some way. 

Could see the film mostly take place on Earth

With the new cast additions it very much seems that this film might see Carol Danvers find herself spending more time on Earth. We saw in Avengers: Endgame that Captain Marvel has spent plenty of time in Space of the last few years so it seems that maybe she will want to spend some time in one place. 

Teyonah Parris will reprise her role as Monica Rambeau from Wandavision

It has been known for a bit of time that Teyonah Parris would be playing the older version of Monica Rambeau from the first Captain Marvel film in the Disney+ show Wandavision and now she has been confirmed for this film. It will be an interesting dynamic seeing Carol interacting with the older version of the kid she met in the first film and it will also be interesting to see how Rambeau comes out of Wandavision and how that will affect her in this film. 

Will connect to Ms Marvel, Wandavision & maybe Secret Invasion

With the two new castings it has been confirmed that this film will crossover with both Ms Marvel and Wandavision but could the film crossover with the upcoming Secret invasion show starring Nick Fury and Talos. The Skrulls and those characters are heavily connected to Captain Marvel so even though we don't know plot details yet maybe it could connect to that show. 

Will hopefully show what Captain Marvel has been up to

Captain Marvel has been up to a lot in the MCU but we haven't seen that much of it and I hope that changes a bit in this film in flashbacks that link tot the main plot. Whether that is the gap between Captain Marvel & Avengers: Infinity War or the gap between Infinity & Endgame I think we need to see more of the development of her character. 

How will The Kree get involved?

The first Captain Marvel film ended with Jude Law's Yonn Rogg and the Supreme Intelligence coming after Carol Danvers and will that be followed up here. Obviously in terms of the timeline that happened a long time ago in the MCU so maybe it has already happened and will be shown in a flashback story or it will be explored in the main plot. 

Overall

Overall, I really liked the first Captain Marvel film so I have some hopes for this film and these new casting announcements add intrigue and hopefully it hits the level when it hits cinemas in a few years.
