The Book of Boba Fett announced by Disney

The Book of Boba Fett announced by Disney

It has really annoyed me this weekend just gone as I have seen people spoiling this news for people who have not yet seen the finale of The Mandalorian Season 2. But I decided to wait till today when Disney start posting their spoiler stuff to talk about the reveal that The spinoff show The Book Of Boba Fett was announced and here are my thoughts on it.

Will come out December 2021

A few weeks ago it was reported a Boba Fett show was being filmed with hope of it coming out late 2021. Well it has now been confirmed it will be December 2021 and for me Christmas is coming early and this show will be a lovely early Christmas present.

Will be a different show to The Mandalorian Season 3

It has been heavily speculated that this show will actually be the third season of The Mandalorian but that doesn't seem the case. A few sources from inside the Star Wars camp have said that this is a spinoff show and that at some point we will get The third season of The Mandalorian whether it will be next year of longer away is yet to be seen.

Will be a short run series

It has also heavily been reported that this show will have fewer episodes then a season of The Mandalorian, obviously on the surface this is disappointing but if they're longer episodes I am fine with that. It seems also that this show won't run for multiple seasons so this might be a short but satisfying experience.

Will show Fett become a criminal overlord

The post credit scene of The Mandalorian Season 2 sees Boba Fett return to Tattoine to take over his old boss Jabba The Hutts organisation and this is a fascinating prospect. We have seen Boba as the hunter but seeing him as the boss could be great and it seems like it might blur the line a bit more between him being a hero and a villain more then The Mandalorian did.

Should show how he survived The Sarlacc

Boba Fett's return on The Mandalorian has been amazing to say the least but one thing we never got was how he survived his apparent death in Return of The Jedi and this is a way to do that. Through flashbacks I want to see how he survived and then what he was up to in the 5 years between that and when we first see him in The Mandalorian.

Will give Fennec Shand plenty to do

Also returning to the second season of The Mandalorian was Ming Na Wen as Fennec Shand and we know she will joining Fett here. She was a real highlight in the last few episodes of The second season of The Mandalorian and with her being in The Bad Batch it seems like the character has a big future and hopefully one that allows her to continue her great work.

Could we see the return of Cobb Vanth and Old Bounty Hunters?

Timothy Oplohant was great as Cobb Vanth in the first episode of the second season of The Mandalorian and we know he is on Tattoine so could we see him come back here. He has a bit of history with Boba Fett so he could be a fun addition to the group here. But also could we see some old Bounty Hunters, I mean Bossk has a big past with Fett and maybe someone repaired IG 88, it would just be so cool to see these guys back in this show

Overall

Overall, Boba Fett is easily one of my favourite Star Wars characters so it is about time he gets the time to shine so hopefully this show can continue to put the shine on him.
