What If...? Season 1 (2021) Trailer Review

What If...? Season 1 (2021) Trailer Review

Probably the last trailer I will talk about over the last few days as lets face it nobody knows what is going on with Wandavision so that isn't worth talking about at the minute. So here is my trailer review for the new Marvel Animated TV series called What If...?

Will see characters taking on different alter egos in The MCU

This show is based on comics where certain characters take on different roles and this show will follow up on that with 2 big versions in particular. Peggy Carter will take the mantle of Captain America and T'Challa will become Star-Lord, both are pretty interesting and can hopefully provide something different from the films and show the personality of those people in these different roles.

Will see the film cast reprise their roles

A big part of this show is the fact that the entire cast will be the same voices as their film counterparts or at least that is the reports going around. It will add legitimacy to the stories being told and make them feel like a part of the wider MCU which is a great thing.

Will see two versions of Doctor Strange facing each other

Doctor Strange is one of the most interesting characters in the MCU as he kind of has an attitude that ties him to the darker elements of the universe. But in this show we will see two versions of him and hopefully Benedict Cumberbatch can do a great job and the style of the show can show just how crazy Doctor Strange can be.

Will show Marvel Zombies

Marvel Zombies was a big comic book run a few years back and this show will have at least some element of it. We see a scene where Bucky Barnes goes against a Captain America zombie and that could lead to a potentially different type of Marvel Show. By being in animated form there is chance to get away with darker things and show some horror elements which will be unique.

Will span the whole of MCU

In the trailer we see snippets from different MCU films, the main ones I noticed were Iron Man 2, Captain Marvel & Thor. Hopefully, they come up with some unique ways to change up these stories and not just putting different characters in the roles or else this will become a pretty repetitive show.

Will be the last time we get to see Chadwick Boseman play T'Challa

So as reported the film cast have done most of their work already and that means that we will get to see Chadwick Boseman voice T'Challa and that is a great thing. Obviously, we won't get to see him as the character in Black Panther 2 so this will feel like a great opportunity to get to see Boseman have one big last role in the MCU.

Overall

Overall, this is an exciting opportunity for Marvel Studios and this trailer did a lot to convince me to watch and give What If...? a real go when it hits Disney+.
