The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Season 1 (2021) Trailer Review

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Season 1 (2021) Trailer Review

The next big thing from Disney's announcement is the first proper trailer for The Falcon & The Winter Soldier and I have watched it and here is my review for the trailer and the things that I have seen.

Sam Wilson gives up the Shield

At the end of Avengers: Endgame we saw an older Steve Rodgers gift Sam Wilson the shield of Captain America but it seems in this show he is no longer in possession of it. I guess it would be difficult to explain how he got the shield, plus it seems like Wilson isn't going to be taking up the role of Captain America straight away which makes sense.

The origins of the Shield are going to be changed

There is a line here where Sam Wilson claims that the history of the shield is complicated, now so far it really doesn't seem like it is that complicated but it seems that at least in some way that will change. It could be possibly linked to the main story and explain why neither of the two main characters are exactly sold on taking over the mantle just yet.

Zemo is still mourning his family

Introduced in Captain America: Civil War, Zemo was one of the best villains in the MCU and he returns in this show. The trailer shows that he escapes his prison and goes to what seems like a memorial where he is probably honouring his family. Zemo & The Winter Soldier have an interesting history so it will provide a fascinating dynamic when they eventually meet again on the show.

Anthony Mackie & Sebastian Stan still have great chemistry

One of the highlights of Captain America: Civil War was the chemistry between Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. There developing bromance was fun to watch and it seems like it will be the through line of the show and be what really carries the entertainment value.

This show has a film budget

All of the reports have been that these Disney+ shows will have film budgets and I think this trailer is the first time I have really felt that. The last 30 seconds of the trailer is movie quality, seeing The Falcon flying from the chopper is amazing and looks spectacular so hopefully we can see more of that in the show.

Overall

Overall, this trailer doesn't give much away in terms of plot details but it still has me very excited and I think when this show comes out in March it will be a big hit.
